Back to the Mission Home - Central America XI

We spent the afternoon and evening visiting friends. KT was able to spend some more time with the Gonzalez family (mother and daughters). Hermana Gonzalez did such a good job as a single mother in the Church and her daughters have embarked on careers of their own - a lawyer, a dentist, and a psychologist. Good for them.

Afterwards, we collected Isa and took her with us to the place we called home during our three years in Honduras. There have been quite a few interior changes since our time. The wooden plank ceiling has been replaced with a lower sheet rock version. Hidden in the space created is the new AIR CONDITIONING. New furniture and new tile floors give it a brighter look. The windows are also all new and seal the house up tight (to keep the cool air in). No more rattling windows that occasionally pop out and fall to the floor during wind storms - but wasn't that part of the exotic charm? The wooden wall in the main hall is also gone, making the space much more open. The sliding, wooden door to the living quarters is now a frosted glass sliding door.

Various mission presidents, past and present, gathered for dinner. I looked at KR and asked her what had happened to Isa. We found her in the kitchen stirring a pot - just like old times (she no longer works there).

We had arranged for Jarol Turcios to meet us at the Marriott after our dinner at the mission home and it was good to see him and his gracious companion, Veronica. As we were talking with them in the lobby, many other "conocidos" were coming and going from the hotel. One grand reunion for a grand event. What a great day!
