KT Wings Into Town - Central America VII

We were so excited to see KT and have her share in this experience. I parked in front of the airport and KR went in to meet her. Her arrival went smoothly and she was back in Honduras! We didn't even go back to rest or drop her stuff off at the hotel (by the way, other than the night in Choluteca, we stayed at the Marriott down the street from the mall), but hit the road to get as much in as we could.

KT Coming Out of Customs

Stop #1: Temple. We dropped by the temple site. It is just a few minutes from the airport. The whole place was locked down tight, as they were still getting everything ready for the weekend. We just wanted to see it and it was stunning. There is a chapel in front of the temple and a large "casa de huespedes" for overnight visitors on the other side. Very nice.

Isa's House

Stop #2: Isa's House. We had finally made contact with Isa and picked her up at a nearby chapel so she could direct us to her house. It was just a short distance from where we had been looking! We had a nice visit and made arrangements to get together later in the week.

Tatumbla Chapel

Salgado Home
Stop #3: Tatumbla. We had heard that Pres. Salgado (Guaymuras Stake) had moved out there and we had general directions to his new house. So off we went. Tatumbla is on the way to Ojo de Agua along the highway to Danli. As you leave the highway and drop down into a pretty valley where Tatumbla sits, your first sight is a beautiful new LDS chapel. We did not even have missionaries in Tatumbla in 2002. We stumbled upon some missionaries and they directed us to the Salgado home.

Streets of Villa de San Francisco
Stop #4: Ojo de Agua\Villa de San Francisco. We moved on down the road and made the turn north to Villa de San Francisco at Ojo. Unfortunately, the Rodriguez family was not in town (they were in Teguc picking up their daughter at the airport returning from her mission). But we looked at the chapel and looked around Villa a bit. Still the same. The chapel looked nice. There were some boys playing on the front steps and we gave them some packs of gum. I told them to only eat one stick at a time and share the pack with their friends. As I watched they stuffed every piece into their mouths.

New Street in Cantarranas
Stop #5: Cantarranas. The church was in the same spot but the big change was the new concrete street in front of the church - wow! We drove back to Teguc via Valle de Angeles. Our plan was to return to Valle on the 15th, so we just passed through.

Stop #6: El Patio. We couldn't hold out until the 15th (our reunion that night was planned for the same place). It was sooooo good. We were happy to "have" to eat there again!
