St. George 4

Another of our St. George habits is to look at real estate. The red rock country can become addictive and it has become clear that we are going to spend more time in St. George. So ..... it made some sense to not continue to pour rent money down the drain. In our looking this year, we found THE place and it fit our needs and situation perfectly on several levels. We did all of the due diligence and closed in  what seemed like a record 8 days. Here are some pictures. We are excited about it and feel that it will be a gathering place for our family.

St. George 3

On March 27, just before we left St. George, we took a ride out to Toroweap, a place I have been wanting to visit for some time. There are two ways to get there, one from the Pipe Springs, AZ area and the other on a road directly south out of St. George. Both involve passage over 60 miles or so of gravel road (actually not bad gravel) and then a little more interesting stretch over 4WD-ish road to the edge of the abyss. It was a beautiful day and we only saw a few fellow visitors. You pass through the new Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and then into Grand Canyon NP. We had a nice picnic lunch and then did a little exploring. This is the Grand Canyon without the asphalt trails and a visitor center. Also without railings. I am a little spooked by heights, so we let Monte do the crawl (he wanted to) on his stomach up to the very edge to take a peek. A world-class spot and one gets the feeling not many people have ever been there. Thanks to Allen Hackworth for treating us with the use of his truck. Check it out.

St. George 2

On the weekend of March 17th and 18th, KR traveled up to Morgan to attend KT's baby shower. Thanks to all that helped put on the nice event. Kyle was especially impressed by the girl's literary talents.

St. George 1

We spent part of February and March in St. George, our third consecutive winter there, and had another great time in a special place. The weather was fantastic, as usual, and we enjoyed good company, as usual, with Monte and Eunice renting the condo jointly with KR and I. The Home Show was a highlight like last year and we enjoyed touring some nice homes. Monte and I headed down to Vegas the first week of March to spent a few days with Jon at the WCC Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Hotel Arena. BYU played well but came up short again. I think they are going to be challenged in their new conference home. But the games, atmosphere, and nature of the opposing fans was certainly a breath of fresh air. We made a visit to the new Mob Museum and that is me in the electric chair. We finished various projects (mostly family history) that we had saved up for the trip, went to several movies, enjoyed eating out often, and loved the temple being close. KR kept up on current events by skyping with the grandkids.
