We always put up more fruit than we can eat and this year was no exception. Peaches and pears are so good and we can usually get them for free here in Wenatchee. We ended up doing 50 or 60 quarts. Somehow they get eaten by someone though, so it is worth it. I like canning pears - however, you can get a little loopy after 8 hours of standing and peeling. This is evidenced by my searching for faces in the sliced pears.
