Temple Dedication - Central America X

We had waited so long for this day and it finally arrived. We were up early, because we wanted to be the first ones in line and we expected a big crowd. Well.....we were mighty early. I think we were the first car in the parking lot. And we were first in line. We were able to visit for a few minutes with the Ocampo's  (he was the President of the Comayaguela Mission when we arrived and is the first President of the Honduras Temple) before they were swept away in what I am sure would be a long day for them.

It Was a Beautiful Morning - The

KT was able to catch up with some of her friends from her days here in Honduras. In fact we spent considerable time during our week-long stay visiting with as many of our friends from a decade ago as possible. They are such good people and good Christians.

Finally, the moment came and we put on our little booties and headed into the building. We went into the main foyer and up a beautiful set of stairs to a hallway, then into one of the sealing rooms. Three dedicatory sessions were held during the day and we were in the first session at 9:00 a.m. I am not sure how many people they put in the various rooms for each session, but our room was packed. I was on the end of a row with my arm pressed into the frame of a large mirror, and KR was pressed up against me to the point I could barely move. Our room had a video monitor with sound piped in from the adjoining room, where Pres. Uchtdorf and Elder Holland were seated beside the pulpit. Before the dedicatory prayer was offered, the visiting General Authorities went outside to seal up the cornerstone. They then returned to the interior room, where some the dignitaries gave short speeches and President Uchtdorf gave the dedicatory prayer. The entire service lasted about 90 minutes. Impressions: Other than my legs and arms taking a few minutes to regain their ability to function, it was perfect. The temple is an extraordinary gift to the Honduran people. It is exquisite. The most beautiful and perfect structure in the country, I am sure.
