We spent the Sabbath resting, visiting old friends, and attending Church in the Esperanza Ward, our ward during the mission. No one knew we were coming and we surprised everyone. The Ward is deeper and stronger than before, even though many of the people we knew have departed to parts unknown. We arrived right before the meeting started and got a lot of stares and smiles - and after the meeting a lot of hugs. Pres. Hernandez, the current Mission President, was in priesthood meeting opening exercises and we talked in the hall for about 40 minutes about what was going on in the MHT and the districts\branches. It was very informative. KR was on another "mission" to find all of her visiting teaching families and try we did - and managed to track them down with the help of Margarita Mejia, our old bishop's wife (he has since died). We were itching for some Chinese food and found it at the Furiwa. That
is the restaurant where we took the missionaries that were going home
for their last meal in Honduras. The food was delicious and as good as
ever. Why does one have to go to Tegucigalpa to find great Chinese food
(are you listening Wenatchee)? See below: 1) Esperanza Ward building, 2) Hermanas Mejia and Sayda Cuello, 3-4) while KR visited the Cuellos, I parked on a steep hill, ran the radio, and killed the battery (arrgghh) - we had to wait for a friend of the Mejias to track down a cable
and drive to where we were to give us a battery jump, 5) Hermana Adelina and KR (she had a picture KR gave her on her wall).
