Valle de Angeles - Central America VIII

As we were all very tired and recognized that the weekend was to be a full one, we slept in and had a late breakfast. We enjoyed our meals at the Marriott. They have a nice breakfast buffet which we negotiated into our room price. On our way to Valle de Angeles we stopped and visited Hermana Erick and family.

As we climbed the mountain to Valle, I noticed the sign to Santa Lucia and decided to make a detour to see what was going on there. We had heard that a branch had been opened and missionaries placed into the town. As luck would have it, we met a trio of hermanas walking on the side of the road on the way to do their laundry. Their destination was the Branch President's house, where they had a washer and dryer. We were able to meet the BP and his family. Evidently, the branch is thriving and growing - wow! They showed us the costumes their children had made for the cultural presentation.

Valle de Angeles was exactly as we remembered it - same streets and souvenir shops. We dropped in the carving studio that did some of the items we brought home.

KR also had to see if the shop where she bought her nativities was still open which it was, in fact, the woman that ran it recognized her.

We decided to make sure we knew where the cultural presentation was going to take place so we would be on time on the 19th. We also wanted to scout out a good place to park our car. While looking around, we noticed that all the youth were starting to arrive and we talked with a bunch from San Pedro Sula. Come to find out, the youth from outside the Teguc area were scheduled to practice today, sleep in some of the Villa Olympica auditoriums, and then have the last dress rehearsal tomorrow.

Our reunion at the El Patio in the evening went off without a hitch. We had no idea ahead of time who was going to show up and we had a few pleasant surpises. Among those that were in town and came were Nahun Funez and family, Daniel Perez, Dustin Kendall, Mike Cox, Brian Adams and family, Marisol Deodanes and husband, and Renzo & Dony Barrios. It was so good to see all of them. We talked for hours. I also showed the mission slide show on my computer.
